What is the score to pass UK Driving Theory Test and what are the Pass Marks

UK Driving Theory Test Pass Mark

To pass the UK Driving Theory Test, you need to meet the following requirements for both parts of the test:

  1. Multiple-Choice Questions: You need to score at least 43 out of 50 to pass.
  2. Hazard Perception Test: You need to score at least 44 out of 75 to pass.

You must pass both parts to pass the theory test overall.

Multiple-Choice Questions

You have 57 minutes to answer 50 multiple-choice questions.

Before the Test Starts:

  • Instructions on how the test works
  • A chance to do a practice question to get used to the screens

How the Test Works:

A question and several possible answers appear on the screen. You must select the correct answer.

Three questions are based on a short, silent video showing normal driving situations, such as:

  1. Driving through a town centre
  2. Driving on a country road

You can watch the video as many times as you like during the test.

Leaving a Question:

You can ‘flag’ questions to return to later.

Changing Your Answers:

You can review and change your answers at any point.

When You’ve Finished:

You can finish the multiple-choice questions part once you’ve answered all the questions. You do not have to use the full 57 minutes.

You can take a break of up to 3 minutes before the hazard perception test starts.

Hazard Perception Test

Before beginning the hazard perception test, you’ll watch an instructional video explaining the process.

You’ll then view 14 video clips that:

  • Show everyday road scenes
  • Include at least one ‘developing hazard’ (one clip will have two developing hazards)

Points are awarded for identifying the developing hazards as soon as they appear.
